Aug. 29, 2009 - This week's featured course was the University Club of Kentucky, Wildcat Course in Lexington, KY.  We tee'd off in a scramble for the United Way.  Otherwise, you could hit these links for $38 on the weekday and $42 on the weekends.  It was 80 degrees and just a beautiful day.  This links style course really showed off it's windy side today.  UK fans will love this course not only because if it's name, or the fact that the men’s/women's UK golf team calls it home but they also have UK markers on the cart paths to mark the 200, 150, and 100.  FYI - Transy Read More »

Aug. 23, 2009 - This week's featured course was the Griffin Gate by Marriott in Lexington, KY.  We tee'd off for $32 (EZLinks.com special) on a 72 degree partly cloudy day.  This was another course that contained many different elevations creating many blind shots that makes it pretty challenging.  It's Read More »

It appears that KWC is gearing up for the college golf season.  They've named both a new women's and men's golf coach this month.  For the women's team, Jill Carter, a former assistant coach at Campbellsville University will take over.  She is from Owensboro originally and played for Campbellsville during her college days lettering all 4-years.  Congrats Jill!

PGA Tour's Facebook said the following today, "16 year old Justin Thomas shot a -5 in the first round and is currently at -6 and tied for 5th with Garcia, Reavie, Snedeker and Moore".  That's right, he's 16 and he is only 3 shots from the lead in his first PGA event after 2 rounds.  This guy isn't new to the game of golf.  Apparently he's been playing since age 2 and had a hole-in-one at age 6.  He's from Goshen, KY just Northeast of Louisville.  He won the FootJoy Invitational Tournament hosted by the AJGA and received an exemption into the Wyndham Championship.  To read more about Justin's endeavor,

Aug. 17, 2009 - This week's featured course was a municipal course in Lexington, KY called Tates Creek Golf Course.  We tee'd off for $35 on a 87 degree summer day.  It is a hilly course with many blind shots that makes it pretty challenging.  It is located in the middle of the Gainesway Subdivision.  It was designed by Buck Blankenship and boasts 6265 yards from the back tees.  There aren't any fairway yardage markers so be careful when deciding what club to hit into the greens.  They do have red, white, and blue steaks along side the fairways but we noticed that & Read More »

If anyone watched the final match on Sunday they had to realize this might have been the most entertaining golf event this year...dare I say decade.  It might have been one of the greatest upsets in sports history.  Head-to-head, Y.E. Yang and Tiger Woods.  Tiger had a 2 shot lead after 54 holes going into the final day.  He was 14 of 14 while leading after 3 days at a major.  Could this be the time that someone put an end to his record and beat the no. 1 player in golf?  As the day progressed, Tiger burned the edge of many putts (maybe 4 to 6 tasting the cup) barely missing as his lead started slipping away.  With his putter struggling, Y.E. Yang was preparing to capitalize.  On the 14th hole, Read More »

Aug. 12, 2009 - This week's featured course was a municipal course in Lexington, KY called Lakeside Golf Course.  This course sits next to Jacobson Park and Jacobson Lake.  This course is somewhat open and long.  It has mid-to-large greens that are mostly elevated.  I wouldn't recommend this course to starter golfers due to the length however mid to pro can really work on their game from tee to green.  The greens really make you hone in on your chipping and aren't forgiving if you miss it by a few feet.  There is some heather peppered throughout the course that ar Read More »
