July 27, 2009 - This week's featured course was a municipal course in Bowling Green, KY called Paul Walker. This course is a fun public course that allows for individuals learning the game and what a great price to boot. It's a par of 70 and plays 6000 yards from the tips. We walked 18 holes for twilight rate of $11. Now, I have a bit of a biased opinion when it comes to this course because this is where all my old home High School matches were held. Go Gree

Here is Blake Atkinson taking the medalist spot at another Pepsi Junior Tour event. This event was earlier in the week at Weissenger Hills through 5 hours of constant rain. The course is just Shelbyville, KY. He shot 36/42 = 78. Next best was 82. Most of the players had trouble with wet clubs and grips. To his benefit he was equipped with a pair of cotton gloves that are made for wet conditions and he hardly ever had a slip. So for those of you that do

University of Kentucky's Ladies played well in the Kentucky Women's Open at Champion Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville. Three Wildcats finish within the top 5 at the 2009 American Express Kentucky Women's Open. Mallory Blackwelder, a recent graduate and golf team member, placed 2nd shooting a 70 in the final round. What a charge she had after being 10 shots behind the medalist after the first day. Soph. Ashlee Rose finished fourth and Kristin Vincent finished fifth. Incoming freshman, Betsie Johnson, finished 11th. Leah Wigger ended up taking the

July 18, 2009 - This week’s featured course was Crosswinds in Bowling Green, KY. This course is a great public course in Warren County. We paid $37 to play 18 on the weekend with cart. This course can be a challenge to the weekend warrior as well as be a good starter course to learn how to play. There is wind, many doglegs, subtle breaks, and hard greens. It's maintained nicely by the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation department. T

July 16, 2009 - This week’s featured course was Oxmoor Country Club in Louisville, KY. This course will be the site of the PJGT Tournament of Champions in a couple of weeks (2 day event). I had the luxury of getting on the course today. It cost $50 and it was worth it. They had a great practice facility and course to match. From the moment of getting out of the car walking up to the luxurious club house to driving the cart back to the club house

Here is Blake Atkinson, a local Jr. golfer, that took a win earlier this week on the Pepsi Jr. Golf Tour at Pine Valley Golf Club. The course is just North of Elizabethtown. He shot a 76 to get the trohpy. Great job Blake! I believe that win moved him up to the top 15 or even top 10 in points on the PJGT Boys 17-18. (photo provided by: Glenn Atkinson). If anyone else would like me to post their win, feel free to e-mail me the information...
